Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, along with experience in the hotel or a related field
- Preferred: a minimum of one year of progressive experience in the hospitality industry
- Helpful: Trade school or college coursework in a related discipline
- Flexibility with long hours occasionally required
- Physical capability to exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds regularly
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Strong listening skills to address concerns from employees and guests
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental duties to meet deadlines
- Courteous approach in all interactions with guests and colleagues
- Attendance at all required hotel meetings and training sessions
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards for attendance and scheduling
- Maintenance of personal hygiene and grooming standards by wearing the appropriate uniform and nametag
- Adherence to safety and operational regulations for efficient hotel functioning
- Proactive in problem-solving and enhancing productivity
- Capability to comprehend and apply complex data and information
- Willingness to cross-train in different hotel-related roles
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs
- Willingness to perform other tasks as assigned by management
Responsibilities
- Ensure the property is maintained in optimal condition with minimal disruption to customers and staff
- Repair hotel air conditioning systems including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors
- Conduct preventive maintenance on various equipment such as boilers, chillers, and electrical systems
- Take necessary readings from equipment for operational checks
- Test cooling towers and log relevant readings
- Replace and program televisions as required
- Replace light fixtures, outlets, switches, and bulbs
- Execute furniture repair tasks
- Replace and repair pumps as needed
- Conduct plumbing repairs, including clearing clogged drains and changing fittings
- Be able to read and understand blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Locate and repair all types of water lines
- Troubleshoot and fix kitchen equipment issues
- Maintain records for repairs and preventive maintenance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal maintenance codes
- Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas
- Paint assigned areas as necessary
- Repair and finish drywall
- Restore all types of wall coverings
- Repair and program the hotels electronic lock systems
