Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field is essential.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a hotel or a similar environment is preferred.
- Trade school or college coursework in a related field is advantageous.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including long shifts as needed.
- Ability to lift over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds regularly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on providing attentive, friendly, and courteous service.
- Proficient in understanding and responding to employee and guest concerns.
- Capability to multitask and prioritize various departmental functions effectively.
- Approach all interactions with guests and colleagues in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
- Attendance at all required hotel meetings and training sessions is expected.
- Consistent adherence to Highgate Hotel Standards regarding attendance and scheduling.
- Maintain a high standard of personal grooming and uniform compliance.
- Follow Highgate regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Focus on productivity, problem identification, and implementation of solutions.
- Skilled in problem-solving, anticipating and addressing issues proactively.
- Ability to comprehend and apply complex information from various sources to achieve objectives.
- Willingness to cross-train in other hotel departments as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Show initiative by anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Complete additional tasks as directed by management.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the property is maintained to the highest standards with minimal disruption to guests and staff.
- Conduct repairs on the hotel air conditioning systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on all equipment, such as boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
- Take necessary readings on various equipment.
- Test cooling towers and document readings accordingly.
- Replace and program televisions as necessary.
- Change out light switches, electrical receptacles, bulbs, and fixtures.
- Carry out furniture repairs as needed.
- Replace and fix pumps as required.
- Perform plumbing repairs, including addressing clogged drains and changing washers or fittings.
- Read blueprints and wiring diagrams with proficiency.
- Trace and repair all types of water lines.
- Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Follow all local, state, and federal code standards in maintenance work.
- Conduct testing, cleaning, and repairs for swimming pools and spas.
- Paint designated areas as needed.
- Repair and finish sheetrock to maintain aesthetic standards.
- Repair various wall coverings as necessary.
- Maintain and program the hotels electronic lock system.
