Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering Tech with an A&P certificate.
- Over 5 years of engineering experience.
- Flight test experience is a significant advantage.
- Experience as a pilot and familiarity with General Aviation aircraft is highly preferred.
- Background knowledge of electronic equipment is also advantageous.
- Proficient in flight testing methodologies including test planning, data collection, and report preparation.
- Understanding of vibration and fatigue principles.
- Knowledge of aircraft performance.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct propeller vibration testing to ascertain compatible propeller and engine combinations for aircraft.
- Define the requirements for testing and instrumentation.
- Coordinate test activities including logistics for test assets.
- Analyze data and interpret results from tests carried out.
- Communicate findings with colleagues, customers, and external consultants on design and installation matters.
- Participate in customer site visits, which may involve up to 25% travel.
- Engage in practical work in the office, test lab, and hangar to install propellers and vibration testing equipment.
- Fly in test vehicles to collect test data.
- Aim for FAA ODA Unit Member status during the role.
