Requirements
Must:
- Extensive experience in performance engineering (10 years or more)
- Proficient in AppDynamics (6 years)
- Strong background in Dynatrace (5 years)
- Skills in code optimization and refinement (5 years)
- Familiarity with performance engineering tools such as JMeter, Appscan, Grafana, and Gatling
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka and PubSub
- Understanding of various data platforms, including Relational and NoSQL databases
- Proficient in programming and scripting languages, specifically Java, Python, and JavaScript
- Ability to analyze and correlate performance metrics with business KPIs
- Capability to handle performance triage during critical incidents
Responsibilities
- Define the performance engineering strategy across various layers including application, API, data, and infrastructure
- Establish nonfunctional requirements (NFRs) pertaining to latency, throughput, availability, and scalability
- Create performance-oriented architectures for both cloud-native and hybrid environments
- Lead initiatives related to capacity planning, traffic modeling, and peak load forecasting
- Architect and oversee frameworks for load, stress, endurance, spike, and chaos testing
- Develop reusable performance testing harnesses for microservices, event-driven, and streaming systems
- Detect and resolve system bottlenecks in compute, network, storage, and data layers
- Drive early performance testing within Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Optimize systems in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing autoscaling, caching, and resource rightsizing strategies
- Engineer performance strategies for Kubernetes, service mesh, and container orchestration
- Enhance API gateways, message brokers, and data platforms for improved performance
- Provide direction on performance tuning for databases and streaming platforms
- Establish observability standards using technologies like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana
- Correspond performance metrics with key business performance indicators and user experience
- Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams on SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
- Direct performance troubleshooting during significant incidents and incidents of operational relevance
Description
We are seeking a Performance Engineering Architect for a full-time contract position based in Southlake, TX. This role offers an hourly rate of $80 and involves working 40 hours a week.
