Requirements
Must:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related Information Technology (IT) or computing field.
- Six or more years of relevant experience in IT, specifically with the Workday platform.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with one or more programming languages or frameworks.
- Strong project management and strategic development skills.
- Proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in desktop applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to create and maintain clear documentation.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work cohesively with team members.
Responsibilities
As an IT Applications Programmer V for Workday Architect at Hackensack Meridian Health, my day-to-day tasks include:
- Overseeing project management for all application programming implementation, maintenance, and support processes.
- Sharing knowledge and mentoring junior Applications Programmers.
- Assisting in validating the work produced by junior team members.
- Taking leadership roles when utilizing advanced coding techniques to develop applications that efficiently execute specific functions.
- Coding features and functionalities based on comprehensive specifications or a thorough understanding of business requirements.
- Recommending technical solutions to intricate business challenges.
- Supervising and engaging in the testing of component functionalities, monitoring the performance of applications in production, while troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Developing and maintaining both internal and end-user documentation.
- Providing technical assistance and overseeing such support during application implementation or maintenance.
- Potentially designing databases independently.
- Actively seeking out strategies for process, procedure, and policy improvements, and communicating these strategies to management and other leaders.
- Serving as a subject matter expert, troubleshooting and resolving the most complex issues.
- Performing other related duties and projects as assigned while adhering to the Medical Centers Organizational Competencies and Behavioral Standards.

This role deals with complex issues and often involves assuming project leadership, as well as working independently while serving as a resource for less experienced programmers. A Workday Pro Certification is required, alongside experience with complex custom integrations using APIs and collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams. Familiarity with Workday Extend, Prism Analytics, or Adaptive Planning is preferred. This role operates on-site in Edison, NJ, four days a week (Monday to Thursday).
