Backend Data Engineer - PHP & ETL

- Design and construct RESTful API services aimed at data retrieval, metadata handling, content management, authentication, audit logging, export creation, and data synchronization - Enforce authentication filters, manage rate limits, log requests, and ensure standardized JSON responses - Develop reusable service components utilizing CodeIgniter 4 patterns - Integrate backend services with Redis caching, AWS Secrets Manager, and SQL Server 2022 hosted on AWS RDS - Create and construct ETL pipelines to migrate data from SQL Server staging to analytical and operational data repositories - Implement batch processing for data standardization, deduplication, cleansing, and dataset aggregation - Facilitate synchronization across Development, Testing, and Production environments - Provide detailed documentation of ETL tools and processing logic for client transfers - Design SQL Server 2022 schemas that are extensible to accommodate future data sets - Optimize relational designs for enhanced performance, scalability, and maintainability - Implement multi-store analytical data models with pre-aggregated data - Create data dictionaries and maintain technical documentation - Execute data quality validation procedures, including schema checks, completeness assessments, referential integrity audits, and deduplication controls - Establish rollback and recovery systems along with structured error logging - Integrate with AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Change Log Service for audit monitoring - Ensure secure and dependable backend and data operations - Collaborate with frontend engineers, architects, QA personnel, DevOps teams, and project stakeholders - Contribute to API design, performance enhancements, and delivery strategies - Generate technical documentation for handover - Write unit tests using PHPUnit and support CI/CD testing processes
