Requirements
Must:
- Educational qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience in designing software from initial concept and architecture to full implementation; capable of building systems from scratch
- Proficient in developing and deploying firmware for embedded platforms, particularly in C or C++ (experience with other programming languages is a plus)
- Strong scripting skills in Python
- Background in developing software within safety-critical and/or highly regulated environments such as aerospace
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities, coupled with the capacity for self-management to handle time-sensitive projects
- Experience with firmware for flight control systems, motor controllers, or powertrains is a plus
- Familiarity with software development for commercial flight simulation products like X-Plane or Microsoft Flight Simulator is advantageous
- Knowledge of DO-178, DO-331, and DO-254 standards is preferred
- Acquaintance with 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks, Blender, or Meshmixer
- Experience using Linux operating systems is useful
- Exposure to developing software through Model-Based Design (low-code/no-code approaches) is beneficial
- Familiar with modeling tools like UML or SysML
- Development experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and multi-threaded applications is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Design and create safety-critical software components for battery management systems, motor controllers, and autopilot systems
- Produce all necessary life cycle documentation (e.g., high-level requirements, software architecture, low-level requirements, source code)
- Collaborate with system engineers to break down requirements into high-level and detailed software specifications while adhering to regulations
- Engage in design discussions to influence overall system architecture
- Assist in the integration of components on aircraft by configuring and modifying firmware for communication compatibility
- Conduct software analysis, requirements-based testing, and structural coverage analysis while maintaining traceability to higher-level documentation
- Develop testing infrastructure to validate platform software
- Keep informed about the latest advancements in embedded software technology
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our processes to improve safety and efficiency
- Identify, document, and track software defects until resolution, ensuring traceability between requirements, tests, and results
- Support software quality assurance efforts, including audits, reviews, and process compliance checks in accordance with regulatory and certification requirements
- Cooperate with systems and software engineers to establish acceptance criteria and ensure software outputs meet defined performance and safety standards
