Requirements
Must:
- Over 15 years of experience in software architecture, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior or principal individual contributor role.
- Demonstrated expertise in deploying Python/PostgreSQL backends in production environments.
- Proficient in designing a data access layer, creating migration strategies, and setting up CI/CD pipelines from ground up.
- Familiarity with handling sensitive data in regulated environments such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or PCI, with an emphasis on audit trails and data access controls.
- Previous experience in a consultative capacity, able to deliver significant impact and manage smooth transitions.
- Comfortable utilizing modern development practices, including AI-assisted tools like Cursor and Claude Code to maintain quality at speed.
Responsibilities
- Establish the modular architecture framework, define module boundaries and set up the CI/CD pipeline prior to launching any feature code.
- Craft and develop the core PostgreSQL schema and entity data model, ensuring migrations are set up from the outset.
- Define and publish interface agreements for each module.
- Design and implement the multi-tenant data access layer with enforced security at both application and database levels.
- Create a coding standards document detailing naming conventions, error management, logging practices, and criteria for pull request reviews.
- Review every pull request affecting core data access patterns, financial operations, or module boundaries throughout the project duration.
- Address and mitigate any blockers for the development team effectively.
- Continuously share architectural insights with the engineering team rather than just at the conclusion of the project.
