Requirements

Must:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related sector; or a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of relevant management experience; or a 2-year college degree with 3 or more years of relevant management experience. - High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. - Prior experience managing a unionized workforce is preferable. - Stationary Engineers license if mandated by local regulations. - Proficient in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance. - Flexibility for long working hours as needed. - Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds consistently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise handle objects. - Occasional travel for company-related matters may be necessary. - Maintain a warm and approachable demeanor consistently. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests of all levels in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner. - Strong listening skills to comprehend and clarify concerns from employees and guests. - Capable of multitasking and prioritizing departmental duties to meet deadlines. - Engage with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner at all times. - Attend all required hotel meetings and training sessions. - Participate in manager-on-duty coverage as needed. - Regularly maintain attendance in alignment with Highgate Hotel Standards, adapting to hotel needs as required. - Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags. - Adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations. - Strive for productivity, identify problem areas, and contribute to implementing solutions. - Proficient in problem-solving, including the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and resolve issues as necessary. - Capability to understand and analyze complex information from various sources to meet objectives effectively. - Must maintain confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities

- Oversee and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, Standard Operating Procedures, and Loss Prevention Standards. - Develop, approve, and manage Engineering staff schedules in line with Highgate Hotel standards. - Formulate and adhere to the annual budget for the department. - Create financial forecasts and actively engage in monthly profit/loss review meetings. - Design and implement strategies to maintain property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in optimal condition. - Ensure hotel compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. - Create and execute a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment. - Conduct regular inspections, tests, and certifications of emergency and life safety equipment and systems according to Highgate Hotel standards. - Ensure timely and courteous handling of room maintenance requests. - Promptly respond to all alarms to determine location and cause; assess emergency status and report findings to the Front Desk, taking immediate action as needed. - Provide assistance as required on special projects and renovations. - Actively participate in energy conservation initiatives. - Review guest and meeting planner feedback to ensure prompt identification and resolution of issues. - Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). - Manage all vendor contracts related to the engineering department. - Engage in and support all Highgate Hotel programs. - Lead and participate in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
