Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma with CCIE (Routing and Switching) certification and 5 years of relevant Data Center operational experience, or CCNP (Routing and Switching/Data Center) certification and 10 years of related Data Center operational experience.
- Proven experience mentoring network operations engineers in the application of current and emerging technologies, agile IT, ITIL, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Clearance Required: Ability to acquire and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Operations Section Manager with staff management, strategic planning, and resource allocation. Collaborate with the Service Delivery Team, Architecture Team, and Security Team to meet their goals.
- Provide guidance to network operations engineers in applying modern technologies, agile methodologies, ITIL, and enhancement techniques.
- Take on shift lead responsibilities to act as queue managers, ensuring timely assignment and handling of escalated issues to adhere to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor all network infrastructure devices and systems using monitoring tools like Grafana, Ciscos StealthWatch, and PerfSonar for comprehensive visibility.
- Deliver maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting for NIHNets DWDM circuits to secure backbone redundancy and meet a 99.99% network availability target.
- Collaborate with the Network Architecture team to identify and suggest software-defined networking (SDN) solutions to enhance automation and facilitate zero-touch installations and deployments.
- Coordinate with the Office of Research and Facilities (ORF) to address issues and modifications that could impact essential services such as NIH 911 for first responders.
- Work with ORF to develop performance and security enhancements for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network.
- Support Cisco-based backend infrastructure for wireless LANs that provide connectivity to NIH staff and over 70,000 visitors annually.
- Propose changes to the wireless LAN to Improvement wireless service based on anomalies identified by CIT tools.
- Ensure wireless configurations comply with CIT Wireless Baseline Standards to support all mobile device technologies.
- Collaborate with ICs to achieve comprehensive wireless coverage across all NIH facilities.
