Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma with over 9 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications
- Valid DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Senior Linux Engineering position with extensive knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Strong command of VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) for managing virtualized server environments
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining complex Ansible playbooks for enterprise configuration management
- Experience with DISA STIG system hardening and ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity standards
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash and Python for task automation
- Active Secret Clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with U.S. Coast Guard or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) programs
- Hands-on expertise using BMC TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA) for automated patch management
- Advanced Linux certifications like Red Hat Certified System Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Knowledge of VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator or VCF Automation Orchestrator
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (AWS/Azure)
- Understanding of JavaScript and REST APIs (Infoblox DDI and Tenable Security Center)
Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert in engineering, security, and automation of Linux environments
- Oversee the management, setup, and upkeep of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in both physical and virtual settings
- Administer VMware vSphere infrastructure and VMware Cloud Foundation, including the deployment of virtual machines
- Utilize BMC TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA) to address issues with automated scripts and ensure system compliance
- Ensure all Linux systems are secured according to government baseline standards and DISA STIGs
- Design, maintain, and execute complex Ansible playbooks for automating system configurations and deployments
- Implement stringent security measures and lead efforts to remediate vulnerabilities aligning with federal data protection standards
- Monitor overall system performance and conduct in-depth root cause analysis of intricate hardware and software difficulties
- Proactively identify risks and devise technical solutions to mitigate issues before they impact operations
- Create and update detailed technical documentation for system setups, processes, and engineering methodologies
