Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma with over 10 years of application development experience (or equivalent)
- Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain DEA suitability
- Proficient in SQL with a solid grasp of Kimball dimensional modeling
- Strong Python skills, including Pandas, SQLAlchemy, packaging, module structure, and unit testing
- Experience with PySpark or Spark, or a willingness to learn quickly
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms like Azure or AWS
- Proven experience in modernizing legacy ETL systems is highly advantageous
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and redesign SSIS/SQL-based ETL logic
- Understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and structured warehouse design
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and contemporary development practices
Responsibilities
- Acquire knowledge of the existing Kimball-modeled SQL Server structure over time
- Reverse-engineer SSIS packages to create Python-based modular ETL pipelines
- Develop reusable Python frameworks for extraction, transformation, and loading
- Start incorporating PySpark for scalable transformation methodologies
- Aid in planning a future transition path to platforms like Databricks, Azure Synapse, or Snowflake
- Enhance orchestration, dependency management, and data quality standards
- Identify technical debt and modernize outdated ETL components
- Work collaboratively with EDW SMEs to understand business logic and lineage
- Create documentation and establish repeatable processes for modernization
