Requirements
Must:
- I hold a Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in system administration or a related field.
- I possess a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (such as Security+ CE or CySA+).
- I am proficient in managing and maintaining both Windows and Linux servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
- I have extensive knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware and Hyper-V) and industry best practices related to system security.
- I possess hands-on experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds) and various troubleshooting methodologies.
- I am experienced in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash.
- I can thrive in a 24/7 operational environment and am available for shift work as necessary.
- I possess excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively within a dynamic team.
- I am capable of maintaining an active Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
As the System Administrator, I will play a vital role within the Information Technology Operations Center (ITOC), a facility that operates 24/7 to ensure the smooth functioning and robust security of essential IT systems. My duties will include managing, maintaining, and optimizing servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications to support continuous operations and mission-critical tasks.
- I will manage, maintain, and enhance servers, operating systems (both Windows and Linux), and enterprise applications within a fast-paced 24/7 operational setting.
- I will administer virtualization technologies, including VMware and Hyper-V, to ensure effective resource utilization and high availability.
- I will manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and user access controls to maintain secure and efficient operations.
- I will utilize system monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds, to proactively check system health, performance, and security events.
- I will implement and enforce rigorous system security protocols and industry best practices to safeguard sensitive data and systems.
- I will conduct thorough troubleshooting for complex system issues affecting server performance, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
- I will automate routine tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell and Bash to enhance operational efficiency.
- I will effectively collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of IT services and operational efficiency.
- I will be available for shift work as required by the 24/7 operational requirements of the ITOC.
