Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma with 6-9 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security)
- Expertise in configuring and managing network devices such as routers and switches
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLAN management, and essential routing/switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF)
- Practical experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools like Wireshark and SolarWinds
- Comprehensive knowledge of network security protocols and best practices
- Capability to thrive in a high-pressure 24/7 operational environment, including availability for shift work
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Must obtain clearable access to an active Secret clearance
Preferred:
- Experience with the US Coast Guard is highly desirable
- Additional networking certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent
- Background in maintaining enterprise networks and datacenter environments
Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and enhance network systems within a high-demand 24/7 operational environment to ensure optimal uptime and security of critical IT infrastructure
- Configure and oversee various network devices, including routers and switches
- Utilize advanced monitoring and analysis tools like Wireshark and SolarWinds to proactively track performance, identify potential issues, and facilitate prompt resolutions
- Implement and uphold rigorous network security measures and industry best practices to safeguard sensitive data and systems
- Perform detailed troubleshooting for complex network issues related to TCP/IP protocols, VLAN management, and routing/switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF)
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders to guarantee seamless integration of network services and enhance operational efficiency
- Be available for shift work as required by the ITOC 24/7 operational needs
