Requirements
Must:
As a candidate for the Information Systems Security Engineer position, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree along with 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 6 years supporting cybersecurity or information assurance functions.
- Proficiency in:
- DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- NIST SP 800-37, 800-53, and FIPS 199/200 frameworks
- FISMA compliance mandates
- Experience in preparing and maintaining security documentation and collaborating with government security personnel.
- The ability to interpret policies and translate them into tangible compliance actions.
- Relevant certifications such as CASP CE, CGRC (formerly CAP), CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CCISO.
- Eligibility for a Secret-level security clearance.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assist in the creation, assessment, and upkeep of security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and Continuous Monitoring artifacts.
- Ensure that system security controls are executed, evaluated, and sustained per NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and applicable DoD regulations.
- Collaborate with system owners, ISSMs, ISSOs, auditors, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and address any findings or inquiries.
- Oversee the security status of systems while supporting periodic reviews, assessments, and audits.
- Engage in change control boards to assess the security implications of proposed changes.
- Monitor and report on cybersecurity risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies according to established guidelines.
- Contribute to user awareness training and ensure adherence to organizational cybersecurity policies.
- Facilitate approvals for network interconnections, such as the Boundary Cloud Access Point (BCAP) and the DISA System/Network Approval Process (SNAP), by providing necessary documentation.
- Aid Product Teams in preparing for and responding to JFHQ-DoDIN Cyber Operational Readiness Assessments (CORAs).
