Requirements
Must:
- Associates degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience)
- Experience assisting victims of crimes and their families
- A compassionate disposition when interacting with individuals facing traumatic situations
- Previous experience in social work or related services is preferred
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish (reading and speaking) is required
- Strong reading comprehension, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make informed decisions to support incoming calls effectively
- Must meet performance metrics for call intake
- Ability to obtain and maintain DHS Public Trust Clearance
Responsibilities
- Utilize a victim-centered approach to support individuals affected by immigration-related crimes
- Raise awareness of services available for victims of immigration-related crimes
- Foster partnerships with community organizations that aid these victims
- Guide victims in understanding available information and the immigration enforcement and removal process
- Respond promptly to incoming calls from detention facilities and other stakeholders
- Apply critical thinking skills and immigration lifecycle knowledge to provide assistance and accurate information
- Quickly build rapport with callers, asking insightful questions to identify their concerns
- Conduct database queries and manual searches related to individuals in detention or those undergoing immigration proceedings
- Log relevant information from calls into a web-based case management system
- Prepare cases for referral to relevant Officers/Agents or field offices for further action
- Utilize third-party interpreter services as needed
- Review immigration enforcement documentation and conduct detailed analytical research
- Demonstrate the capability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and assignments
