Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma with at least 9 years of experience or equivalent
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
- Extensive experience in the management and maintenance of Windows Server and Linux operating systems
- Proficient in VMware, Hyper-V, and enterprise virtualization environments
- Strong understanding of enterprise security standards, STIGs, and system hardening practices
- Hands-on experience with system monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or similar
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for server, OS, and application-level issues
- Experience in automating system tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational setting and work independently during overnight shifts
- Exceptional communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities
- Eligibility for security clearance up to an active Secret clearance
Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise servers, operating systems (Windows and Linux), and critical applications in a demanding 24/7 environment
- Administer and optimize virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V, ensuring high availability and efficient resource use
- Oversee and maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity/access management systems
- Utilize system monitoring tools such as SolarWinds to monitor system health, performance, security events, and capacity trends
- Implement and enforce enterprise security policies, DISA STIGs, and industry best practices for compliance and information protection
- Lead complex troubleshooting efforts involving server performance, OS-level issues, virtualization environments, and enterprise applications
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to enhance operations and service delivery
- Create and uphold system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration baselines for continuity across shifts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including networking, cybersecurity, and application support to resolve issues and improve system reliability
- Provide senior-level mentorship and escalation support for junior and mid-level administrators
- Participate in shift work to meet the ITOCs 24/7 operational objectives, including nights, weekends, and rotating schedules as needed
