Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with mainframe systems, specifically in writing, maintaining, debugging, or modernizing COBOL, PL/I, RPG, or Assembler in production environments.
- Thorough understanding of the mainframe ecosystem, including z/OS, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, VSAM, MQ, and batch scheduling tools such as Endevor and ChangeMan.
- In-depth knowledge of how business logic is structured in these systems, focusing on patterns, copybook structures, naming conventions, and data flow.
- Familiarity with modern programming languages and tools, particularly Python or TypeScript, along with experience in Git, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
- Enthusiastic about leveraging AI for legacy systems, seeing LLMs and agentic AI as valuable tools for problem-solving.
- Eager to work in a fast-paced environment, ready to make swift decisions that utilize your expertise effectively.
- Proactive and solution-oriented, aligned with a team that maximizes impact through collaboration and resourcefulness.
Responsibilities
- Develop systems that ingest, parse, analyze, and extract specifications from various mainframe codebases, including COBOL, RPG, PL/I, and JCL.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of mainframe architecture, including batch processing and data stores, to ensure Glovers analysis is accurate and reliable.
- Create domain models and heuristics that enable Glovers AI agents to interpret business logic, data dependencies, and control flows in legacy code effectively.
- Partner with AI/ML engineers to enhance the reasoning capabilities of large language models regarding legacy code, bridging gaps between AI output and code understanding.
- Collaborate with Fortune 1000 enterprises and government agencies, validating and refining Glovers output against production-grade environments.
- Contribute in a modern development setting (using Python, TypeScript, and cloud-native infrastructure) while applying mainframe expertise to tackle complex challenges.
