Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in telecommunications or fiber network engineering
- Proficient in fiber optic network design, routing, and documentation
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, including MS Visio for network schematics
- Familiar with fiber inventory systems, circuit tracking, and network databases
- Knowledge of GIS platforms and spatial data is beneficial
- Experience with Salesforce is a plus
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Capacity to work autonomously in a fast-paced remote setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in the telecom industry is preferred
- Basic knowledge of OSP and fiber infrastructure is preferred
Responsibilities
- Design physical fiber routes for telecom services, including point-to-point configurations, ring topologies, and diverse path routing
- Execute fiber path engineering using existing network records, databases, and GIS systems to enhance new services and optimize the network
- Develop fiber design schematics that include fiber routes, splice locations, and construction requirements
- Assist with fiber relocation, restoration, and reroute projects for existing network infrastructure
- Keep accurate records of fiber inventory and circuits, encompassing fiber usage, enclosures, conduit, and cable data
- Update and maintain fiber optic network databases to guarantee data accuracy and integrity
- Collaborate with Outside Plant (OSP) teams, GIS specialists, Sales Engineering, and network planning teams
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project delivery
- Manage workload using strong time management and prioritization skills
- Perform additional telecom engineering support tasks as assigned
Description
We are seeking a Fiber Engineer Specialist to join our team on a contract basis fully remote within the United States. This position is expected to last over six months, with a competitive pay rate of up to $39 per hour. In this role, you will be responsible for managing fiber network design, documentation, and inventory for a large-scale fiber optic network. This is a great opportunity for individuals with hands-on experience in fiber route design who thrive in collaborative environments and can engage effectively with various engineering and operations teams.
