Requirements
Must:
We seek candidates with 5-7 years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data Analytics, showcasing progressive responsibility. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in leading projects or directly managing and mentoring analytical staff is essential. You should have a proven track record of translating business needs into analytical solutions and actionable insights within a business context. Experience in the Retail, Convenience Store, eCommerce, or related industries is preferred. Expert-level SQL skills for complex data extraction, transformation, and analysis are required. You should possess in-depth knowledge of major BI platforms (such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker), including expertise in dashboard design, development, and performance enhancement. Exceptional skills in data storytelling and communication are necessary, as you will need to present intricate information clearly and persuasively to varied audiences. Additionally, strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration abilities are vital, alongside excellent business acumen and problem-solving skills, particularly in a retail environment. Familiarity with data preparation/modeling tools (like dbt or sqlmesh), as well as exposure to Python or R for data analysis and automation are also advantageous. Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, or basic predictive modeling is beneficial. Finally, familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake or BigQuery) and a passion for data quality, continuous learning, and fostering a data-informed culture are desired traits.
Responsibilities
In this position, I will lead and mentor a team of BI analysts, promoting analytical rigor, fostering technical skill development, and encouraging a culture of curiosity and data-driven insights. I aim to partner with Retail leadership to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and build solid analytical frameworks that measure business performance, identify trends, and monitor progress against strategic goals. It will be my responsibility to translate ambiguous business questions into specific, testable hypotheses and analytical plans, proactively identifying areas where data analysis can deliver significant value. I will oversee the entire development, delivery, and optimization of BI solutions, including dashboards and reports, utilizing SQL and BI platforms like Tableau and Power BI. Clear and concise communication of complex analytical findings and strategic recommendations to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, through compelling data storytelling and visualizations will be crucial. I will conduct in-depth analyses using SQL, BI tools, and Python/R to uncover root causes, identify actionable opportunities for growth or optimization, and quantify business impact. Additionally, I will own the design, development, and continuous enhancement of core Retail dashboards and reporting suites, ensuring data accuracy, clarity, and relevance for various Retail business verticals. Promoting data literacy, encouraging the adoption of self-service BI tools, and advocating for best practices in data governance within the Retail unit will also be part of my responsibilities. Collaborating with central data teams, I will influence the design and evolution of data models and infrastructure necessary for robust retail analytics and data capabilities. I will explore appropriate statistical techniques or basic forecasting models to tackle specific retail challenges, like customer behavior analysis or demand planning. Lastly, I will champion data quality, consistency, and governance best practices within the Retail analytics domain.
