Requirements
Must:
- 4+ years of experience in a Data Center Engineering Role
- 4+ years of experience with network cabling
- 4+ years of experience troubleshooting Linux environments
- 4+ years of experience in server hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools (preferred)
- Knowledge of advanced server hardware and networking technologies (preferred)
- CompTIA A+, Server +, and/or Network + Certification (preferred)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot basic hardware issues with servers, escalating more complex problems to Senior Data Center Technicians when necessary
- Resolve fundamental Linux OS issues on all servers
- Install new SSDs and NVMe drives into existing server systems
- Assist engineers in addressing issues with auto build (Linux Kickstart) nodes that have failed to build
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity problems at the physical layer (such as port flapping, downtime, and link errors)
- Collaborate across teams to resolve manually-generated service tickets
- Prepare server nodes for decommissioning, including identifying, tagging, and getting them ready for our IT asset management vendor
- Support any hardware installations that fall outside of the specified quarterly growth projects
- Be on call to respond to system issues on a 24/7 basis and participate in the on-call rotation
- Assist Level 3 Data Center Technicians with OS-level and network troubleshooting
- Ensure compliance with data center protocols and cleanliness, reporting any issues to leadership
