Requirements
Must:
- Strong consultative, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams
- Proficient understanding of infrastructure design components including servers, operating systems, networks, and storage
- Experience in architecting, implementing, and maintaining high-availability mission-critical environments for 24/7 operations
- Familiarity with a defined production change control process
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure
- Extensive scripting/development experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Java, JavaScript, etc.
- Practical experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Kafka, GitHub, OpenShift, and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
- Relevant expertise in configuring and implementing IaaS, Infrastructure as Code, AWS, Azure, etc.
- Hands-on experience in Kubernetes cluster management, support, and administration
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes networking, runtime security, and RBAC practices
- Expertise in AWS Cloud Engineering with a focus on Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Proficient in coding with GO or Python, with a preference for GO
- Experience with Kubernetes Operator/Controller Development, including contributions to open-source CNCF projects or in-house development
- Preferred knowledge of Rancher/RKE2, CKA/CKAD/CKS certifications, and service mesh/envoy experience
- Experience in multi-tenancy implementations and CD using GitOps tools like FluxCD, ArgoCD, or Rancher Fleet
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification required; higher-level certification preferred
- Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud are advantageous
- Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 7 years of experience in IT systems installation, operation, administration, and maintenance of cloud systems or virtualized servers
- Preference for experience within a financial services or highly regulated environment
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Executive Director of Platform Automation and Cloud Engineering
- Design, configure, implement, and oversee a fully automated workflow for provisioning and maintaining a complex, highly available cloud environment using Infrastructure as Code
- Develop and uphold a repository of deployable, tested, and documented automation scripts, processes, and procedures for cloud services deployment
- Manage DevOps activities and handle intricate development tasks using tools such as Docker, Kafka, and various container management systems
- Lead and engage in the build-out of cloud computing environments, software installation, maintenance, and support, including patches, fixes, end-of-life preparation, and upgrades
- Ensure the reliability of services and manage to specific and implied SLAs to meet both internal and external standards for cloud platform quality
- Assess and prepare for capacity requirements within the cloud platform and create forecasts
- Implement and manage initiatives responsibly within your designated area with accountability for outcomes and compliance with controls and security guidelines
- Contribute to the creation of technology roadmaps and plans for end-of-life technologies
- Communicate project and operational service issues to senior management promptly, providing observations, decisions, and recommendations for corrective actions
- Manage and assist in the implementation of production changes during scheduled maintenance windows and participate in on-call support rotation
- Maintain a balanced work/personal dynamic within your team
- Act as a point of escalation for support issues within the team
- Organize and implement rotational support schedules for afterhours and weekend tasks in your area
- Cultivate an environment of trust, respect, and high performance, demonstrating ethics and integrity
- Oversee project and daily work task planning, prioritizing effectively, and ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality work
- Establish corrective actions in response to audit and regulatory compliance findings
- Operate within budget constraints and ensure adherence to established schedules, work plans, and performance metrics
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for relevant systems, procedures, and processes
- Perform additional duties as assigned
