Requirements
Must:
- Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Academic knowledge of large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Go and Python, or other languages used in production services.
- Understanding of Unix/Linux, SSH, and networking fundamentals.
- Availability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail with a desire to enhance processes and systems.
- Experience using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Enthusiasm for self-driving technology and its societal impact.
- Intent to return to the degree program after the internship.
- Expected graduation with a Masters Degree between December 2026 and June 2027.
Responsibilities
- Implement enhancements to our AV development toolchains and services that positively impact engineering productivity and core company metrics.
- Utilize guidance from senior engineers to identify and solve engineering challenges with reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Effectively convey the status of work assignments.
- Adhere to software engineering best practices within the team.
- Contribute positively to the engineering culture of the team.
- Exhibit high levels of responsibility and accountability in task management.
- Engage with various tools and functionalities related to the position, including Golang, Python, gRPC, SSH, Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, Buildkite, GCP, and OpenTelemetry.

We are part of the AI Cloud and Developer Infrastructure organization, dedicated to providing and maintaining the tools and services that empower our engineers to excel in their roles at GM. Our aim is to enhance the entire development process, from code management to deployment, ensuring our Autonomous Vehicle engineers have exceptional tools for a seamless development experience. This internship offers a hybrid work arrangement, with opportunities available in Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Austin, Detroit, Warren, and Milford.
