Responsibilities
As the Senior Systems Engineer IV, I am responsible for participating in Information Assurance (IA) system, hardware, and software design activities, leading evaluations of requirements generation, allocation, and tracking throughout the development cycle to ensure supportability for security certification. My key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and fixing problems within existing systems, designing, and implementing new systems along with enhancing existing systems.
- Participating in the analysis, design, and development of next-generation IT systems.
- Understanding the needs of our customers and the realities of commercially available IT products, creating requirements for the development team.
- Performing systems engineering activities and assisting in the preparation of work products in the Technical Process Area associated with ISO/IEC 15288.
- Analyzing technical alternatives for projects and making preliminary recommendations.
- Independently analyzing and recommending alternatives for elements of project technical designs.
- Supervising or coordinating the work of other contractor engineers or technicians on a project.
- Analyzing and proposing appropriate engineering standards and processes for projects.
- Assisting in conducting evaluations to determine project implementation suitability.
- Developing innovative approaches to technical or engineering issues.
Description
I value the following skills: experience as a system engineer on various IT platforms, a solid technical background focused on IT systems, familiarity with telecommunications (TCP/IP, OIS/CMIP/X25), operating systems (Windows, UNIX, LINUX), and database management systems (Oracle, Access, Sybase). It is also desirable to have familiarity with ITIL and SEI/CMM.
I require candidates to possess one of the following DoD approved certifications to meet the IAT-2 (DoD 8570) requirement for this position: Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), CASP, GCIH, or GCED.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School/GED (+12 years) of relevant experience.
- Associate's Degree (+10 years) of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree (+6 years) of relevant experience.
- Master's Degree (+4 years) of relevant experience.
- PhD (+2 years) of relevant experience.
The likely salary range for this position is $155,803 - $210,790, which will depend on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements.
