Responsibilities
As the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) III, I ensure that the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for our information systems. In this role, I work closely with the ISSM and ISO, possessing the detailed knowledge and expertise necessary to manage the security aspects of our information systems. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the ISSM in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.
- Preparing, reviewing, and updating authorization packages.
- Ensuring that approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying various types of hardware and media.
- Notifying the ISSM of any changes that could affect the authorization determination of our information systems.
- Conducting periodic reviews of systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package.
- Coordinating any changes or modifications to hardware, software, or firmware with the ISSM and AO/DAO prior to execution.
- Monitoring system recovery processes to ensure security features are restored and functioning correctly.
- Maintaining all IS security-related documentation to ensure it is current and accessible to authorized personnel.
- Ensuring audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented, including any anomalies.
- Attending necessary technical and security training relative to assigned duties.
- Executing the cybersecurity portion of self-inspections, including coordination and review of all system assessment plans.
- Identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities and assisting in the implementation of countermeasures.
- Preparing reports on the status of security safeguards applied to our computer systems.
- Performing ISSO duties in support of both in-house and external customers.
- Conducting continuous monitoring activities for authorization boundaries under my purview.
- Assisting Department of Defense, National Agency, and Contractor organizations with the development of assessment and authorization efforts.
Description
We are seeking a candidate with over 5 years of related experience, particularly in developing Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages. A minimum of 2 years of Special Access Program (SAP) experience is required, along with prior experience in roles such as System or Network Administrator or ISSO. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience (4 years) is preferred. Certifications such as IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security) or IAM Level II are also required. The required clearance to start is TS/SCI, and the candidate must be able to obtain TS/SCI with a CI Polygraph. This position is based in Ramstein, Germany, and offers a competitive salary range of $91,811 - $109,595, dependent on experience and geographic location. Travel requirements range from 10-25%, and this role requires onsite work.
