Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience is acceptable.
- Over 8 years of experience in life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
- Strong foundation in IT with practical experience supporting both hardware and software in lab settings.
- Hands-on knowledge of lab system configuration, instrument integration, and client/server architecture.
- Proven understanding of formal change control and documentation processes in regulated environments.
- Familiarity with laboratory applications such as Waters Empower, Agilent platforms, Dotmatics, or similar systems.
- Ability to manage issues from initial report to final resolution, identifying root causes effectively.
- Capacity to communicate technical concepts clearly to scientists, vendors, and leadership.
- Demonstrated sound judgment in escalating problems and proactively updating stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities with an analytical mindset and an eagerness to understand complex systems.
- Competence in managing multiple priorities while maintaining thorough records and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for all laboratory technology systems.
- Act as the main point of contact for troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and change control.
- Ensure laboratory applications, instruments, and integrations operate reliably, securely, and in compliance with GxP standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve intricate hardware and software issues, escalating to vendors when necessary.
- Collaborate with lab personnel to understand workflows and develop technical solutions based on business needs.
- Oversee system updates, upgrades, patches, and new implementations according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Engage in all phases of system lifecycles, including requirements gathering, configuration, validation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation related to lab systems and integrations.
- Support regulatory audits and inspections by providing necessary documentation and system expertise.
- Conduct PC and server configurations, instrument connectivity, and routine preventative maintenance.
- Ensure that all changes adhere to documented change control procedures.
- Analyze the effect of new technology on lab and business processes, and propose enhancements.
- Work closely with Quality, IT, and laboratory teams to maintain system reliability and inspection readiness.
- Participate as a secondary support resource for Service Desk operations when needed.
- Take part in IT Service Desk on-call rotation and assist with incident and request resolution during peak demand.
