Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline - Profound knowledge of power systems theory and electrical devices - Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PowerWorld, CYME, or comparable) - Understanding of electrical safety and industry regulations - Capacity to operate independently and handle multiple technical projects - Excellent written and verbal communication abilities - Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus preferred) is a plus - Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress towards licensure is an advantage - Experience in renewable energy, data centers, utilities, or industrial settings is preferred - Familiarity with protective relays and substation design is a plus - Knowledge of utility interconnection processes and grid codes is valuable

Responsibilities

- Design and analyze power systems - Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, motor starting, and transient stability analysis - Design and evaluate medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, such as substations, switchgear, transformers, and protective elements - Create single-line diagrams, schematics, grounding plans, and equipment layouts - Develop and assess protective relay settings and coordination studies - Aid in ensuring system reliability, redundancy, and fault mitigation strategies - Assess system performance and suggest necessary upgrades or corrective measures - Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NESC) - Participate in arc flash hazard analysis and guarantee electrical safety compliance - Engage in design reviews, audits, and discussions concerning regulatory or utility interconnections - Collaborate with project managers, mechanical/civil engineers, utilities, vendors, and clients - Examine vendor submittals, technical specifications, and participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs) - Deliver technical support throughout construction, commissioning, and system energization phases - Draft technical reports, calculations, drawings, and design documentation - Effectively convey findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
