Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a related science field from an accredited institution
- At least four years of pertinent experience
- Proficient programming skills in compiled languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, Fortran) and/or interpreted languages (e.g., Python)
- Experience with software architecture encompassing design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and configuration management
- Familiarity with client-server software systems across diverse operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Working knowledge of Java Swing and Graphical User Interface development
- Experience with parallel programming and executing parallel tasks on supercomputing platforms
- Capability to thrive in an agile development environment
- Strong multitasking abilities across various projects
- Passion for developing scientific software
- Ability to independently manage work and collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers to create and enhance software solutions for scientific and engineering challenges
- Design, develop, test, verify, and uphold engineering software
- Transition engineering software to contemporary computing frameworks as needed
- Engage in problem-solving and software systems architecture
- Collect requirements from application developers, engineering users, and system administrator teams
- Focus on application areas such as nuclear reactor physics, thermal performance analysis, casualty analysis, and data science
- Utilize automated tools to assess thermal hydraulic and reactor performance design parameters
- Maintain a user-friendly environment for software applications
