Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Over 3 years of experience in professional software engineering.
- More than 5 years of full-stack development experience, covering both backend and frontend.
- Strong software development skills in Python, Java, and Node.js.
- Experience in creating modern front-end applications using React or Angular, along with TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency in Git and collaborative development methodologies.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and system integration.
- Practical experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, CloudFront, IAM).
- Extensive experience with MongoDB, including schema design and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Experience in test automation with Selenium/WebDriver and Selenium Grid.
- Robust DevOps experience, encompassing CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and artifact management.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code implementations using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of secure authentication and authorization practices (OAuth 2.0, SSO) and Zero Trust principles.
- Strong Linux skills and understanding of networking fundamentals, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Must qualify for a Public Trust clearance and pass federal background checks.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and sustain backend services utilizing Python (Django/FastAPI), Java (Spring Boot/Quarkus), and Node.js (Express/NestJS).
- Construct secure REST and GraphQL APIs promoting interoperability within NIH systems.
- Create modern, responsive front-end applications leveraging React or Angular, adhering to USWDS and Section 508 accessibility guidelines.
- Implement comprehensive automated testing using Selenium/WebDriver to ensure cross-browser functionality and regression coverage.
- Operate and enhance AWS cloud environments, including EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, IAM, CloudFront, and Lambda services.
- Develop, oversee, and refine CI/CD pipelines by utilizing tools like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Manage and optimize MongoDB clusters through schema design, indexing strategies, performance tuning, and replication processes.
- Provide support for relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL.
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for secure and repeatable deployments.
- Monitor system performance and resolve application issues through tools like CloudWatch, ELK/OpenSearch, and other observability solutions.
- Generate and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and configuration standards.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to setting engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
