Requirements

Must:
- I have over 15 years of professional experience in software engineering and architectural roles, including extensive hands-on coding and systems design. - I possess deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot microservices, as well as in event-driven systems (such as Kafka and Axon) and both synchronous and asynchronous communications, applying domain-driven design principles. - I have a strong knowledge of distributed system design that includes high throughput, low latency, resilient architectures, graceful degradation, and fault isolation. - I am experienced in cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, and Azure) and have worked with hybrid cloud and on-prem integrations. - I am skilled in architecture modeling and documentation, utilizing modern tools and frameworks like C4 and UML. - I bring an excellent understanding of integration patterns, messaging, service orchestration, observability (including logging, metrics, and tracing), caching, and databases (both SQL and NoSQL). - I have a proven ability to articulate design trade-offs, influence senior stakeholders (including engineering leads, product leadership, and executives), and lead architectural decisions. - I have strong communication skills that allow me to simplify complex architectural concepts and present them to non-technical audiences while collaborating effectively with engineering teams. - I have experience in payments, fintech, commerce platforms, or similarly complex, regulated, high-scale systems, which is highly desirable. - I have a proven track record in setting standards, leading architectural practices, mentoring teams, driving governance, and enhancing architectural maturity within an organization.

Responsibilities

- I am responsible for architecting end-to-end payment and platform systems (including on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-native solutions) that meet demands for low latency, high throughput, resilience, security, and data privacy. - I define and advocate for architecture principles, reference models, and patterns (such as microservices, event sourcing, CQRS, async and sync messaging, and domain-driven design) while guiding teams in their adoption. - I document architecture using modern modeling tools and techniques (like C4, UML, and various types of diagrams) to ensure that architecture artifacts are clear, actionable, and accessible to engineering and product teams. - I evaluate design trade-offs (including latency vs throughput, consistency vs availability, and complexity vs maintainability) and make decisions transparently. - I maintain a highly hands-on approach, delving into Java/Spring Boot microservices, event flows, integration architectures, observability, and failure handling and recovery strategies. - I collaborate closely with product leadership to translate roadmap items (such as tokenization, passkeys, and BNPL) into architectural designs, providing options, implications, and trade-off analysis. - I provide mentorship and leadership in architecture governance by reviewing design proposals, performing risk assessments, driving architectural reviews, and leading a Center of Excellence for architectural practices. - I engage across engineering domains and partner with teams in cloud, infrastructure, security, DevOps, and data to ensure that architecture meets cross-cutting non-functional requirements and is delivery-ready. - I drive innovation by exploring new open-source technologies, event frameworks, data streaming, AI/ML integration, and real-time analytics while bringing pragmatic proposals into the platform roadmap. - I influence culture by promoting architecture best practices, driving continuous improvement, contributing to knowledge-sharing forums, and building an architecture community within the organization.
