Requirements
Must:
- Over 7 years of experience in Cloud, SRE, DevOps, or Observability positions.
- At least 3 years of practical expertise with New Relic, covering NRQL, APM, alerting, and dashboard creation.
- Proficient in Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Go, or Bash.
- Strong comprehension of microservices, containers, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and performance enhancement skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and scale observability solutions utilizing New Relic, ensuring reliable monitoring across different systems and services.
- Create and develop dashboards, visualizations, and alerting workflows to deliver real-time insights into system behavior and operational performance.
- Automate the deployment and configuration of observability through Terraform, OpenTofu, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools to enhance consistency and repeatability.
- Examine telemetry data to identify root causes, troubleshoot incidents, and discover opportunities for enhancing reliability and performance.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to establish and apply observability best practices for metrics, logs, and distributed tracing across applications and platforms.
- Support visibility across cloud and containerized environments, assisting teams in understanding dependencies and service interactions.
- Contribute to a proactive monitoring approach by improving alert quality and minimizing noise while boosting signal clarity for operational teams.
Description
We are on the lookout for a Senior Observability Engineer to join us in designing, implementing, and enhancing our observability capabilities in modern cloud environments. This position will focus on creating scalable visibility into the health of our applications and infrastructure using New Relic, thereby enabling teams to effectively monitor performance and swiftly address issues. Located in Plano, TX, this is a 6-month contract role with potential for conversion based on business needs.
