Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in quality assurance, product testing, or compliance for consumer goods.
- Strong understanding of regulatory standards and quality control processes.
- Experience in developing technical specifications, labeling, and compliance documentation.
- Proficient in data analysis with the ability to recommend corrective actions.
- Familiarity with global sourcing practices and collaboration with overseas vendors.
- Proficiency in QA tools and systems (Bamboo Rose and Riskonnect preferred, but not mandatory).
- Willingness to travel as necessary for factory audits and inspections.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities; detail-oriented and proactive.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical and quality specifications for products, including testing protocols and shipment inspections.
- Ensure products meet applicable federal regulations such as CPSC, ASTM, and ISO, along with pertinent state regulations (e.g., CA Prop65).
- Identify potential safety risks, including sharp edges, chemical hazards, and choking dangers.
- Conduct risk assessments like DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
- Recommend design enhancements to internal and/or external partners for quality, compliance, and safety.
- Review and approve product labeling, packaging layouts, and instruction manuals for regulatory adherence.
- Ensure factories comply with documentation and product specifications.
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from design to customer feedback regarding quality and safety, including suggestions for future product iterations.
- Manage product testing and shipment inspection procedures; review and approve testing reports.
- Validate that products comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements prior to release.
- Stay updated on industry regulations (e.g., CPSIA, ASTM, ISO) and apply necessary updates to testing protocols for allocated products.
- Act as a technical liaison for factories, agents, and sourcing teams.
- Offer guidance during inspections and address quality discrepancies.
- Monitor development timelines to ensure timely sample production and compliance testing.
- Identify and rectify product quality issues throughout their lifecycle.
- Manage product claims and maintain accurate documentation for validation and approval.
- Collaborate with vendors to implement corrective measures and prevent future occurrences.
- Analyze inspection and vendor performance data (e.g., damages and returns) and customer feedback to identify trends.
- Suggest process and design enhancements to improve product quality and supplier performance.
- Initiate projects that enhance product safety and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Merchandise, Global Sourcing, and Buying teams to evaluate products from concept to production.
- Partner with Packaging Engineering to optimize packaging design and improvements.
- Assess product and packaging design, materials, functionality, and safety, providing clear feedback to meet quality and compliance standards.
- Work cross-functionally to identify risks early, establish quality expectations, and support effective sourcing and product decisions.
