Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree required
- Masters degree in education or related field preferred
- Fluency in Spanish required (reading, writing, and verbal)
- Strong commitment to cultural competency to eliminate barriers
- Three years of experience working with at-risk youth, ideally current and former foster youth
- One year of experience in career development and job placement preferred
- In-depth knowledge of education and employment resources in the Bay Area
- Familiarity with the challenges faced by transitioning foster youth
- Experience in youth development, relationship building, and youth motivation
- Good time management skills, punctuality, and the ability to work under pressure
- Proficient in MS Office suite applications and experience with database systems
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work, along with some travel as needed
- Must be able to pass a Community Care Licensing background check
Responsibilities
- Support youth in identifying and pursuing educational and employment goals for long-term success
- Build and nurture trusting relationships with high school students and community partners
- Provide translation during intake meetings for primarily Spanish-speaking youth
- Conduct individual case management meetings to assist participants in achieving educational and employment objectives
- Help youth secure full-time, part-time, and summer employment by accompanying them to job fairs and interviews
- Assist youth in creating and updating professional resumes
- Counsel youth on career exploration and job retention
- Coordinate with community service providers to develop and maintain employment plans for youth
- Coach youth on navigating work-related challenges and promoting self-advocacy
- Create, translate, and facilitate workshops on vocational and educational topics
- Maintain partnerships with high schools, GED programs, colleges, and vocational training institutions
- Guide youth in navigating financial aid applications
- Collaborate with special education departments to support IEP meetings
- Ensure youth are aligned with their educational plans and community resources for employment
- Document progress on Action Plan goals for education and employment
- Attend program and staff meetings regularly to ensure collaborative functioning
