Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors Degree and 4 years of experience in software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in software application development and maintenance - Preferred areas of study: Computer Science or Information Systems - Preferred areas of experience: Information Technology or Application Development - Strong comprehension of Kafka architecture including topics, partitions, brokers, producers, consumers, and connectors - Familiarity with distributed systems, data streaming, and messaging platforms - Experience with Confluent Kafka Connect, streams, and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Confluent Control Center - Availability to be on-call for support on a rotating basis (as required)

Responsibilities

- Manage infrastructure by designing and deploying Kafka clusters on-premises to guarantee scalability and uninterrupted availability, including capacity planning, monitoring, and alerting - Develop and maintain real-time data streaming pipelines utilizing Kafka Connect, schema registry, streams, and ksqldb - Optimize performance by monitoring, tuning, and enhancing broker and topic configurations for maximum throughput and minimized latency - Serve as a technical authority by maintaining an up-to-date understanding of technology trends and their impact on our infrastructure to provide valuable consultative support - Offer technical guidance and direction to associates, management, and project teams, using expertise to devise solutions for complex technical challenges - Function as a trusted advisor on strategies that align development projects with long-term business objectives and technological vision, assisting management in executing initiatives across the division - Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, consumer lags, and message delivery - Ensure the security of the Kafka cluster through SSL and SASL, and manage data contracts using the schema registry

In this role, we are responsible for setting up Kafka clusters, configuring brokers, optimizing performance, and ensuring high availability.
