Responsibilities
- I will perform administration tasks for applications databases (Oracle/Postgres), including SQL code reviews, performance assessments, query optimization, database design, physical data modeling, and engineering support.
- I will lead proof-of-concept initiatives to assess and enable new technological solutions.
- I will proactively monitor database servers and promptly address any alerts.
- I will design and implement resilient and high-performing Oracle database platforms utilizing distributed database technologies.
- I will provide database development assistance throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC) and prefer having agile experience, including logical and physical data model reviews, SQL performance optimization, and data injection.
- I will participate in a 24/7 on-call schedule for production support, monitoring, maintenance, and installations.
- I will collaborate with enterprise teams for Systems Administration, Cybersecurity, and Capacity Planning when necessary.
- I will swiftly diagnose issues and come up with effective solutions or workarounds.
- I will manage my time efficiently, handling multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- I will possess self-motivation, strong team spirit, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- I will establish database standards concerning operations, upgrades, migrations, and onboarding new applications or clients.
- I will document technical processes clearly and concisely to maintain standards and procedures.

Description
At Fidelity Institutional Technology, within our Database Center of Excellence (COE), I am part of a team that delivers business-oriented database solutions. My role encompasses all aspects of databases, including design, engineering, application data integration, data replication, performance consulting, deployment, and support, using advanced methodologies and technologies. We provide comprehensive DBA services for distributed database systems like Oracle, Postgres, NoSQL, Snowflake, SQL Server, Sybase, and MariaDB. Most of our roles operate in a hybrid model, requiring associates to be onsite bi-weekly (Monday to Friday) in a Fidelity office, with exceptions for fully remote or onsite positions. Please note that Fidelity adheres to various legal and regulatory guidelines that may affect hiring decisions, particularly regarding candidates with specific criminal histories.
