Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a comparable field from an accredited institution.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
- Strong expertise in C/C++ programming languages, particularly for embedded systems.
- Profound understanding of microcontroller architectures, memory management, peripherals, and communication protocols.
- Familiarity with widely-used RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar.
- Experience with development tools such as IDEs, debuggers, and emulators specific to embedded systems.
- Background in unit testing, integration testing, and system-level validation methods.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills for complex firmware challenges.
- Strong communication abilities to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Design firmware architectures and algorithms to fulfill product specifications, while considering hardware limitations and enhancing performance.
- Develop clean, efficient, and thoroughly documented firmware code using embedded C/C++, following coding standards and best practices.
- Engage with various hardware components, including microcontrollers, memory, and communication interfaces, to manage interactions via firmware.
- Collaborate with RTOS to handle system tasks with accuracy in timing and prioritization.
- Conduct comprehensive unit, integration, and system-level testing to detect and rectify firmware issues, employing debugging tools and strategies.
- Work closely with hardware engineers to facilitate smooth integration between firmware and hardware, addressing any design hurdles and providing feedback.
- Generate detailed technical documentation for firmware design, implementation, and testing processes.
- Enhance existing firmware by applying bug fixes, adding features, and implementing updates per customer requirements.
- Participate in product evaluations to verify compliance with engineering standards.
- Maintain flexibility to undertake additional tasks and assignments as necessary.
