Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Transportation, Logistics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
- Four (4) years of additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree
- Experience in the transportation industry in an operations management role or Industrial Engineering experience
- 1 year of Area/Sort/P&D Manager experience is required if no relevant degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
- Familiarity with Business Objects is beneficial
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Presentation skills for training and informational sessions
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Problem-solving skills with sound judgment
- Ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Willingness to travel up to 75%
- Knowledge of Material Handling, Computer Aided Design, and Business Objects preferred
- Capability to perform cost justification analysis
Responsibilities
- Advise, plan, develop, and design engineering and operational plans to enhance efficiencies
- Influence management decisions to align with engineering and operational objectives
- Conduct root cause analysis and facility observations to identify inefficiencies
- Guide team knowledge and application of dock operational systems
- Create Network Alignment Plans
- Calculate Capacity Planning for optimal facility utilization
- Prepare Volume Projections for various timeframes
- Oversee local changes such as expansions and relocations
- Anticipate labor and project staffing requirements
- Evaluate Hub/Linehaul cut times for compliance
- Develop Labor Standards to reduce labor hours
- Create monthly operational plans focusing on resource needs
- Set goals and budgets for productivity and cost savings
- Recommend material handling projects with financial justifications
- Develop contingency plans for unexpected situations
- Serve as a subject matter expert on operational processes
- Identify gaps in adherence to SQI metrics
- Train management on operational protocols
- Perform additional duties as required
