Requirements
Must:
- We are looking for strong programming expertise in C and C++, with a focus on embedded microprocessor software development.
- We need experience programming in Python.
- We value exposure to MATLAB and Simulink, including control modeling and firmware interfacing.
- We require knowledge of automotive communication protocols, especially CAN, along with hands-on use of diagnostic tools such as Vector CANape, CANdela, CANalyzer, or CANoe.
- We seek experience in board-level software development and troubleshooting.
- We expect a solid understanding of software engineering principles, software quality assurance, and the full software development lifecycle.
- We require at least 1 year of experience with RTOS and bare-metal systems.
- We look for strong firmware and application software development experience for embedded systems.
- We want candidates with a strong commitment to building dependable code for safety-critical products.
- We require experience with software configuration management and release management processes.
- We value knowledge of Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing, including test environment support.
- We prefer familiarity with automotive SAE standards and regulatory requirements.
- We require experience with requirements management tools such as Polarion or DOORS.
- We value knowledge of SPICE and CMMI industry process frameworks.
- We prefer experience with energy storage systems and high-voltage applications.
- We expect the ability to communicate work results clearly to peers and managers.
- We require the ability to meet assigned deadlines and commit to scheduled delivery dates.
Responsibilities
- We design, develop, and validate system software for battery management systems to satisfy system and customer requirements.
- We review customer and system requirements and translate them into software requirement specifications.
- We perform unit, functional, system validation, and automated testing, while maintaining requirement-to-test traceability.
- We collaborate with systems, algorithm, calibration, and validation engineers in a cross-functional team to enhance existing features and create new ones.
- We prepare software requirements documents, design documentation, test plans, test specifications, and test reports.
- We test and debug software to confirm proper operation and investigate root causes of unexpected or unacceptable behavior.
- We communicate work outcomes to peers and management as needed.
- We participate in software engineering reviews.
- We archive work products to support process compliance and future maintenance.
- We take on additional duties as assigned.

This Software Engineer role focuses on lithium-ion battery management systems for automotive and industrial platforms, and it is a hybrid remote position based in Hayward, California. We offer a competitive annual salary of $130,000 to $150,000, along with dental, health, and vision insurance, relocation assistance, and visa sponsorship.
