Requirements
Must:
- Proven technical contributor with a strong background in delivering security engineering projects in dynamic environments.
- Experience in designing, coding, and implementing security solutions using Python, and familiarity with at least one of the following: Java, Go, C++, JavaScript, Rust, SQL, or TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with security tools and scripting, with the capability to design, develop, and manage solutions beyond basic UI interactions.
- Proficient in writing and refining detection logic for SIEM, EDR, NDR, WAF, or similar frameworks, with a successful record in tuning signals for high accuracy through practical testing.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and protect both cloud and on-premises systems, using tools such as CloudTrail and Security Hub.
- Established experience in threat hunting and incident response, utilizing engineering skills to develop new detections and automate investigative workflows.
- Comprehensive understanding of attack tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) along with a technical approach to creating effective countermeasures.
- Enjoys working collaboratively, providing support and mentorship to team members while actively seeking new technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine detection rules and logic across SIEM and other monitoring platforms; construct detection pipelines.
- Produce and sustain automation scripts and tools for scanning, alert triage, ticket generation, and incident management using Python or comparable languages, creating comprehensive solutions rather than relying on off-the-shelf options.
- Actively oversee, test, and calibrate detection use cases; analyze data to lower false positives and boost actionable alerts, suggesting and implementing code changes for measurable enhancements.
- Generate and update dashboards and reports, leveraging technical expertise to extract, query, and analyze data for detecting threats and identifying vulnerability trends.
- Reverse engineer new threats by probing and testing crucial systems to understand possible adversary tactics, translating insights into actionable security measures.
- Build, coordinate, and automate enrichment and response procedures—design and implement your own integrations and response playbooks using SOAR tools.
- Collaborate effectively with software and infrastructure engineers to incorporate security controls during planning and deployment, advising on solutions based on first-hand technical observations.
- Work alongside other security engineers to challenge and enhance our tools, processes, and capabilities, contributing your engineering know-how to elevate standards.
- Maintain technical documentation by directly managing and summarizing your work and solutions, while keeping stakeholders informed of updates.
