Requirements
Must:
- I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field; or a High School Degree/General Education Diploma with 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- I have over 12 years of experience as a Solutions Developer or Software Engineer, demonstrating a trajectory of increasing responsibility and complexity in my roles and deliverables.
- I possess at least 10 years of experience in one of the following areas: ERP, LIMS, Bioinformatics, or clinical data management.
- I have over 5 years of experience working within a regulated environment (SOX, HIPAA, CLIA, GCP, FDA, ISO-13485, and/or IEC-62304).
- I have 5 or more years in direct leadership positions.
- I demonstrate an understanding of the Clinical Lab environment and possess skills in risk and change management.
- I have professional working knowledge in delivering projects to meet client satisfaction, ensuring quality and timeliness within budget constraints.
- I am capable of executing the essential duties of this position with or without accommodations.
- I am authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- I will guide the evolution of enterprise architecture at Exact Sciences.
- I will formalize architectural modeling practices within my team, focusing on the overall vision while delivering detailed architectural documents, such as functional decomposition, component, and deployment diagrams.
- I will assess the architectural solutions devised by teams, teach architectural principles, mentor development leads, and aid teams in architecture, including tool and technology selection.
- I will explore new technologies to address both immediate and long-term challenges and needs.
- I will collaborate with teams as an enterprise architect at both portfolio and solution levels.
- I will create project and application architecture deliverables consistent with our architectural principles, standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- I will review and authorize third-party and integration solution architecture.
- I will work closely with technology teams focused on web/infrastructure to establish deployment architecture.
- I will implement and execute enhancements to our DevOps processes.
- I will identify bottlenecks and bugs and develop solutions to rectify these issues.
- I will uphold code quality, organization, and testing standards.
- I will provide guidance to other design authorities and project teams regarding software design, architecture, and interface decisions.
- I will unify and align software interfaces across teams.
- I will actively recruit engineers and foster a culture of value delivery through successful software initiatives.
- I will enhance the capabilities of the engineering team by promoting best practices in coding, testing, and deployment protocols.
- I will uphold clear communication and transparency with key stakeholders (CEO, COO, Sales, Support, Customers, and Affiliates).
- I will participate in strategic Product and Sales discussions to ensure that Software Engineering aligns with the vision and goals of Exact Sciences.
- I will supervise staff, organizing and prioritizing tasks, conducting performance reviews, training, and managing work performance.
- I will communicate clearly defined goals to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
- I will motivate and inspire my team to deliver their best work through effective coaching.
- I will maintain morale and support initiatives that engage employees.
- I will exhibit strong skills in process management, negotiation, influence, and problem resolution.
- I will efficiently prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- I will demonstrate excellent project communication and stakeholder management skills.
- I will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in understandable business terms.
- I will have a solid understanding of object-oriented, service-oriented architecture, and micro-service architecture and programming principles.
- I will achieve results via collaboration with others, establishing relationships and effective controls in a managed service environment.

- I will support and adhere to the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- I will maintain dependable attendance.
- I will have the ability to lift up to 10 pounds for around 5% of a typical working day.
- I will be capable of working on a mobile device, tablet, or computer screen, with typing requirements constituting approximately 90% of a typical working day.
- I will be available to travel for 25% of my working time, which may include overnight or weekend travel.

I am the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Exact Sciences, responsible for leading the architectural design and development of enterprise software solutions that enhance cancer detection and treatment.
