Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical/military experience - Over 5 years of professional experience in embedded firmware development using C/C++ for real-time or microcontroller systems - U.S. citizenship with the capability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, kneeling, and crawling - Willingness to travel up to 10% annually Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with RTOS-based embedded systems - Experience with J1939 CAN protocols - FPGA development using Libero and VHDL - Background in creating PC-based testing or diagnostic tools - Experience with military requirements or military prime contractors - Knowledge of interfacing firmware with power electronics systems - Understanding of manufacturing or production environments - Strong analytical, documentation, and communication abilities - Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for power electronics products controlled by microprocessors - Create firmware using C/C++ on Texas Instruments C2000 microcontrollers or comparable devices - Employ Code Composer Studio, Eclipse IDE, or similar development tools - Implement and oversee real-time operating systems (RTOS) as needed - Design and execute J1939 CAN communication buses on embedded systems - Develop PC-based graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for CAN communication testing and diagnostics - Utilize tools like PCAN-Basic, PCAN-Explorer, VECTOR, and Microsoft Visual Studio for GUI development - Support FPGA development using Microchip/Microsemi/Actel Libero, including VHDL programming (preferred) - Create and configure user interfaces utilizing Red Lion Crimson 3.1 HMI IDE (preferred) - Use lab equipment, including oscilloscopes and digital multimeters, to troubleshoot firmware-hardware interactions - Analyze hardware schematics and electrical designs for firmware implementation - Conduct firmware and hardware debugging to identify and resolve issues - Assist in microcontroller and FPGA circuit card designs (preferred) - Interpret customer specifications to delineate firmware behavior and system operation - Collaborate with power electronics engineers to ensure optimal system performance - Engage in design reviews, verification testing, and discussions with customers - Support products through various phases, including qualification testing, production, and sustainment - Foster and maintain a safe, high-quality engineering environment
