Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in communications, public affairs, political science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3 - 7 years of experience with state or local government relations, government, or economic development
- Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and individual responsibility while working effectively under pressure with fluctuating priorities
- Capable of managing multiple issues simultaneously
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong judgment in high-pressure environments
- Experience collaborating in team settings
- Exceptional listening, written, and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel regionally and work remotely (up to 50%)
- Preferred: Proven experience engaging with community groups, local governments, and nonprofits
- Preferred: Background in public affairs, grassroots, and/or charitable campaigns
- Preferred: Experience in the manufacturing, energy, and/or utilities sectors
- Preferred: Familiarity with new and traditional media
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and managing public events
- Create and refine content for speaking engagements, opinion editorials, and other communication documents
- Collaborate with consultants and industry trade groups to establish strategic partnerships
- Educate the public and key stakeholders about current business activities and organize supporter engagement opportunities
- Support external engagement initiatives related to both existing operations and new projects
- Plan and coordinate special programs and activities to enhance public understanding and goodwill
- Organize employee volunteer activities within the region
- Transform strategies and business initiatives into clear and engaging messaging
- Represent the company at public meetings, hearings, and industry gatherings
- Develop tailored strategies for executing community giving programs
- Work together with the communications team to amplify the impact of partnerships
- Coordinate tours of company facilities for external stakeholders
