Requirements
Must:
- High School Diploma is mandatory.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Drafting Technology or Electrical/Instrumentation Technology is advantageous.
- Ideally, 10 years of experience in design focusing on electrical/instrumentation/controls (EIC).
- Experience in terminal/pipeline engineering settings is highly valued.
- Prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical/instrumentation construction coupled with drafting expertise is desirable.
- Must hold and maintain TWIC certification.
- Proficient in creating design drawing packages utilizing AutoCAD.
- Experience with CadWorx 3D and CadWorx P&ID is preferred.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Project, Outlook, and Excel.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail, capable of multitasking to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with motor control components and schematic drawing development for across-the-line starters and variable frequency drives up to 5kV.
- In-depth knowledge of ISA, NEC, and API 500 codes, particularly in hazardous (classified) areas (Class 1).
- Competence in PLC cabinet design and wiring development, as well as industrial networking and HMI systems.
- Understanding of Piping and Instrument Diagram symbology (P&IDs), installation detail drawings, one-line diagrams, cable schedules, instrument plans, and loop diagrams.
- Familiar with instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical devices.
- Knowledge of electrical power distribution (12.47-34.5kV) is an asset but not essential.
- Capable of working productively in team settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with interpersonal skills that demonstrate initiative and decision-making capability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and drafting efforts for the electrical/instrumentation/controls (EIC) aspects of capital projects, primarily for Pipelines and Terminals in the U.S.
- Oversee coordination of multiple design projects adhering to set deadlines.
- Modify departmental strategies to tackle resource and operational challenges effectively.
- Manage project tasks including initial drawings, equipment specifications, construction documentation, bid packages, material takeoffs, technical support, and project closeout, ensuring all work is completed timely and safely.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, designers, operations teams, contractors, vendors, and inspectors to ensure project execution is aligned with standards.
- Document modifications to facilities and ensure compliance with the Companys Process Safety Management protocol.
- Handle complex E/I design, including preliminary studies, equipment layout, conduit routing, standard design developments, and light structural/concrete detailing.
- Offer technical support and guidance to pipeline departments to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective installations.
- Maintain CAD files and equipment documentation according to company standards.
- Ensure design projects conform to all relevant codes, safety standards, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Potentially travel for field data collection, verification of existing drawings, and offering technical assistance in construction settings.
- Serve as a resource for resolving complex issues for other team members.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
