Requirements

Must:
- High school diploma or equivalent - Two-year technical degree in electronic circuits and PLC programming or higher preferred - Over 6 years of experience as an I&E in Cryo-plants, Amine treating, compressor stations, liquids handling, and their related systems and equipment. - Strong written and verbal communication abilities - Proficiency in MS Word and Excel applications - Deep understanding of failsafe Emergency Shutdown Systems and equipment protection principles - Organized and systematic approach to diagnosing equipment and controls issues - Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with various levels of management and external regulatory agencies, customers, contractors, and industry peers - Ability to work in physically and mentally demanding environments - Capacity to adapt to frequently shifting priorities - Recognition of the importance of the Controls Specialist role within the Reliability team, ensuring safe and reliable equipment processes

Responsibilities

- Maintain a safe work environment by actively engaging in safety programs - Troubleshoot and oversee operations of compressor packages, plants, liquid pipeline systems, and various control systems - Develop or refine control logic to accommodate changes in equipment or operating conditions - Provide necessary training for local Instrumentation & Electronics (I&E) personnel and operations/maintenance staff - Create, sustain, and revise Standard Operating Procedures as required - Assist in monitoring compliance with equipment safety device checklists and verify proper device settings - Inform the Management Team of any safety issues to foster an accident-free workplace - Review equipment Start/Stop plans to ensure adherence to the companys Standard Operating Procedures - Participate in the facility audit process as an expert on adherence to construction techniques at local, state, and federal levels - Formulate action plans to ensure facilities comply with applicable regulations and codes - Identify and research training resources needed to meet instrumentation and controls training requirements, providing training when necessary - Serve as the Controls Subject Matter Expert (SME) during PSM and other relevant meetings or audits - Collaborate with fellow controls specialists to promote consistent practices across the Central Texas Region and beyond - Conduct cost/benefit analysis for new equipment or processes for potential integration at any facility - Manage controls upgrade or replacement projects as needed - Engage in incident investigations regarding major equipment failures and safety incidents as required
