Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience managing Amazon MSK and Kafka in production environments.
- Expertise in designing Kafka systems that ensure high availability across multiple availability zones and regions.
- Strong skills in topic design, partitioning, retention strategies, and capacity planning.
- In-depth troubleshooting experience for consumer lag, rebalancing, broker performance, and throughput issues.
- Capability to manage Schema Registry and enforce governance on schemas.
- Background in deploying and maintaining Kafka Connect clusters and connectors.
- Proficiency in integrating Kafka with Snowflake and other enterprise systems.
- Advanced familiarity with Terraform, including module creation, lifecycle management, state handling, and remote backend structures.
- Ability to automate environment setup across diverse environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AWS networking components like VPCs, subnets, security groups, and IAM roles.
- Demonstrated support experience for production workloads within AWS environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline implementation for both infrastructure and Kafka deployments.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Dynatrace, or equivalents.
- Knowledge in security governance, including Kafka ACLs, IAM integration, encryption, and secrets management practices.
- Experience in regulated enterprise settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for Amazon MSK within a production setting.
- Design and oversee multi-AZ and multi-region Kafka systems for optimal availability.
- Establish topic design, partitioning strategies, retention policies, and capacity planning practices.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to consumer lag, broker performance, and throughput bottlenecks.
- Manage the Schema Registry and uphold schema governance protocols.
- Implement and oversee Kafka Connect clusters and their corresponding connectors.
- Facilitate real-time integrations with systems like Snowflake and other enterprise applications.
- Develop and sustain Terraform modules for MSK, networking, IAM configurations, security groups, and associated AWS services.
- Manage the Terraform lifecycle, including meta-arguments, state management, and remote backend configurations.
- Streamline environment provisioning across development, testing, and production stages.
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and Kafka deployments efficiently.
- Create monitoring and observability systems using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Dynatrace, or similar solutions.
- Implement Kafka access control lists (ACLs), manage IAM integration, encryption, and secret management.
- Operate effectively within regulated enterprise environments.
