Requirements
Must:
- 5+ years of experience in optical transport deployment, including roles in operations or engineering with providers or vendors.
- 3+ years of managing and maintaining optical transport networks, specifically with Nokia PSS, Cisco NCS2015, and Ciena 6500.
- Hands-on expertise in constructing optical networking infrastructure and systems.
- Skilled in design, construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of optical hardware during upgrade cycles.
- Capacity to interpret intricate work packages, generate impact statements, and create detailed MOPs and change requests.
- Experience with routing principles, optical transport systems, and troubleshooting standard service configurations.
- Excellent understanding of OTN, SONET, and DWDM technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain precise ticket statuses, meet deadlines, and perform tasks on live circuits without causing disruptions.
- Readiness to engage in periodic maintenance windows and partake in a 24/7 on-call rotation as required.
- Background in dynamic, large-scale service provider environments managing numerous enterprise projects concurrently.
- Preferred certifications include CCNP, OCP, NONC, or others relevant to optics.
- Preferred extensive knowledge of Nokia PSS, Cisco NCS2015, or Ciena 6500.
- Preferred experience with optical migrations.
- Preferred familiarity with DWDM Flex Grid, SONET/SDH, CWDM, PON, wave turn-up, OTU/ODU, and 10G/100G/200G services.
- Preferred expertise in MOP documentation and network performance optimization.
Responsibilities
- Enhance client experience through technical initiatives within optical transport services.
- Collaborate in planning and documenting the network architecture for deployments and migrations.
- Integrate and document communication frameworks, topologies, hardware, software, links, and protocols.
- Assess products and resolve network issues to strengthen the optical service offerings.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of technical standards, procedures, and methods of procedure.
- Establish compatibility standards for protocols while implementing enhancements with improvement recommendations.
- Plan and execute medium- to highly complex projects aimed at optimizing and configuring existing optical networks.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution during implementations in collaboration with vendors and internal teams.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently and occasionally assume the role of project team lead.
- Mentor junior team members to enhance overall departmental performance.
- Adhere to relevant regulations and standards to minimize project risks.
