Requirements

Must:
### - A minimum of 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or a related sector; alternatively, a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of relevant management experience; or a 2-year college degree with 3 or more years of related management experience. - High school diploma or equivalent is essential. - A Stationary Engineer’s license, if mandated by local regulations. - Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills is required. - Ability to work prolonged hours when necessary. - Physically capable of exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds consistently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. - Occasional travel related to company business may be required. - Must maintain a warm and welcoming demeanor at all times. - Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, allowing effective interaction with all levels of employees and guests. - Ability to listen, comprehend, and address concerns raised by employees and guests. - Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines. - Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner. - Attendance at all required hotel meetings and training sessions is expected. - Participation in the Manager on Duty (M.O.D.) coverage, as needed. - Consistent attendance in line with Highgate Hotel Standards, in accordance with scheduling, which may vary with the hotel’s requirements. - Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing name tags. - Adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to support safe and efficient hotel operations. - Maximize productivity efforts by identifying problem areas and assisting in implementing solutions. - Effectively handle issues, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving problems as necessary. - Ability to comprehend and evaluate complex information and data from various sources to meet objectives. - Maintain confidentiality regarding information. ###

Responsibilities

- I oversee and train all engineering staff in areas of customer service, empowerment, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention standards. - I create, approve, and post the staffing schedules for the engineering department according to Highgate Hotel standards. - I develop and adhere to the annual budget for the engineering division. - I work on financial forecasts and actively engage in monthly profit/loss review meetings. - I create and implement plans to keep property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in good repair. - I ensure the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal laws. - I establish and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment. - I ensure that all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified per Highgate Hotel standards. - I guarantee that room maintenance requests are addressed promptly and courteously. - I immediately follow up on all alarms to ascertain the exact location and cause, evaluate emergency status, and report findings to the front desk. Immediate action is taken as required. - I assist with special projects and renovations as needed. - I actively participate in energy conservation programs. - I review all guest and meeting planner comment cards to ensure that issues are identified and rectified promptly. - I ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). - I manage all vendor contracts overseen by the engineering department. - I support and participate in all Highgate Hotel programs. - I lead and engage in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee. ###
