Requirements
Must:
- Active RCDD certification (mandatory).
- Over 5 years of experience designing low-voltage/security systems in commercial or institutional settings.
- Strong knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion systems, and related software/hardware.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or Bluebeam (Revit knowledge is a plus).
- Capability to produce complete Division 27/28 design packages.
- Familiarity with ANSI/TIA standards, pathway design, fiber/copper infrastructure, and grounding/bonding.
- Understanding of California permitting, Title 24 regulations, and construction documentation procedures.
Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive security and low-voltage systems, including access control, CCTV, alarms, intercoms, and networking infrastructure.
- Create bid-level drawings, risers, device layouts, patch panel schedules, single-line diagrams, and as-built documents.
- Develop technical submittals, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineered plan sets for permitting processes.
- Ensure compliance with BICSI, TIA, NEC, NFPA, California Building Codes, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
- Collaborate with general contractors, architects, consultants, inspectors, and project managers at ESS.
- Conduct site surveys, cable counts, device verification, and make necessary field design adjustments.
- Assist in estimating by providing takeoffs, refining scope, responding to RFIs, and exploring value-engineering options.
- Validate product selections, ensuring compatibility, licensing requirements, and system architecture are met.
- Maintain consistency in design across ESS standards (including Bosch, Avigilon/Motorola, Hanwha, Continental, DSX, etc.).
- Provide support to project managers and technicians during installation with clarifications and technical assistance.
