Requirements
Must:
- 3+ years of experience with React / Next.js, including component architecture and state management
- Proven expertise in Python (FastAPI) or Node.js (Express) for production REST APIs
- Proficient in PostgreSQL schema design, query writing, and migrations
- Experience with WebRTC / WebSocket for real-time video and data streaming in browsers
- Skilled in creating HTML5 Canvas overlays on video frames, such as bounding boxes and text
- Knowledge of JWT authentication and role-based access controls
- Familiarity with Git, specifically Azure DevOps or GitHub, and pull request workflows
- Experience with Docker for containerized deployments
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of a central dashboard aligned with our Figma designs, supporting multi-camera grid views
- Implement real-time video streaming functionality using WebRTC through go2rtc integration
- Create detection overlays that visualize bounding boxes, tracking IDs, and confidence scores on a canvas
- Design and develop a user interface for an algorithm library featuring 28 algorithms with camera-specific configurable parameters
- Build a multi-site management portal, allowing service providers to view all sites while customers access only their own
- Establish role-based authentication mechanisms for different user levels including admin, service provider, and customer
- Develop an alert engine coupled with a notification system for emails and push notifications
- Monitor device health through a comprehensive dashboard displaying metrics such as CPU, NPU, memory, and uptime per edge device
- Create a REST API to facilitate communication with edge devices, covering detection retrieval and command transmission
- Manage event, alert, and analytics history via a PostgreSQL database
- Integrate RabbitMQ for real-time event streaming from edge devices
Description
We are seeking a senior engineer to take charge of our cloud dashboard and backend for a customer-facing portal designed to display live video streams, AI detection overlays, and algorithm configurations, along with alerts and multi-site management. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our lead engineer focused on edge AI and hardware, as well as two junior machine learning engineers dedicated to model training. This is a hybrid remote position based in Concord, ON, offering full-time or freelance opportunities, with a competitive salary range of $57,346.60 to $137,029.47 per year.
