Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance
- Strong interest in Risk Management Framework (RMF), Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Authority to Operate (ATO), and vulnerability management processes
- Proficient in assisting with security documentation and conveying information effectively
- Knowledge of Git version control and Azure DevOps
- Basic familiarity with security automation tools such as SCAP/STIG tools and SAST
- Preferred Certifications: Security+ CE, CAP, CC (ISC2), ITIL Foundations (optional)
Responsibilities
- Assist in analyzing and enhancing security controls across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
- Support the preparation of RMF documentation packages including CMPs, IRPs, ISCPs, and security plans
- Participate in both internal and external audit support activities
- Review vulnerability findings (STIG, SCAP, ACAS) and track remediation efforts
- Conduct assessments of information security maturity
- Identify risks, document Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M), and implement compliance measures as per federal policies and NIST standards
- Aid in the development and upkeep of RMF and ATO documentation libraries
- Coordinate efforts with Infrastructure, Development, and Security Operations teams
Description
We are seeking a Junior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support a significant federal initiative in Washington, DC. This full-time role involves working both onsite and remotely to help maintain the security posture of our enterprise systems. In this entry-level position, you will collaborate closely with senior security staff, engineers, and program teams, contributing to ATO documentation, continuous monitoring, and security governance. We offer a competitive salary of $75,000 to $85,000 per year, alongside benefits such as 401(k), dental insurance, health insurance, and paid time off. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the contract and eligibility for an Active Public Trust clearance is also necessary.
